The US is set to blockade Iranian ports after peace talks failed, which may escalate the conflict and impact global energy security.
What changed
The US military will begin blockading Iranian ports at 10 a.m. EDT on Monday. The blockade is a response to the failed peace talks between the US and Iran, which were held in Pakistan. Iran has warned of higher prices at the pump due to the blockade. The US Navy has already crossed the Strait of Hormuz to clear mines. The conflict is now a test of wills between Iran's capacity to absorb strikes and the US's tolerance for the war's costs.
